Feral Cats Kept Warm Thanks To Volunteers
Now that spring has returned, feral cat colonies have become more visible. The winter of 2012 saw record snowfall in many places, including Toronto, Ontario, Canada. In the city, massive volunteer effort in the fall saw the construction of over 1,000 shelters for feral colonies through bi-weekly building meetups that worked to use donated and sponsored materials to provide a low-cost and practical solution for kitties stuck outside in inclement weather. Since each shelter can hold up to three cats, this helped shelter thousands of cats in Toronto's TNR colonies from icy winds and snow.
