Modern Cat Photo Contest Entry- Karma and Dash
Meet: Karma and Dash
Vote For Me!
We adopted Karma almost 8 years ago from the SPCA. She was 3 at the time and weighed in at a hefty 13lbs. Was love at first sight! She immediately attached herself to me. Doesn't matter if I'm sat on the couch or going into my bedroom to sleep. If it's possible for her to curl up near me she's by my side within 5 mins. She now weighs 15lbs but still acts like a kitten despite her weight and age chasing balls and toy mice. Dash we've only had for a little over a year. Another SPCA adoption. We had recently lost our Siberian husky of 10 years and I thought my 5 year old son could use another companion. I wasn't completely sure a cat was the way to go since they tend to choose their person not the other way around. We had gone through all the rooms and between the cats not seeming very kid friendly and/or Cameron not being able to find one he liked we had decided to come back another day. As I stopped at the desk to tell them we were leaving she had asked if we had seen the black and white cat in the last room. We had not. Apparently he had been there for a while but no one had wanted him. We went back and found him on top of the cages asleep. I took him down and passed him to my son. I have never seen a cat be so calm in a child's arms as this one. He was just like a rag doll, flop! My son put his face down into the cats fur and rubbed his check along his back and looked up at me and smiled. I knew than that this was gonna be an amazing friendship. Since than Cameron has squashed, squeezed and cuddled this cat to the point of no return and he just always takes it and than comes back for more! Karma wasn't fussy about the new roommate at first. But one day after about 6 months I noticed a change from her normal "this is my space how dare you come close hiss". She was letting him chase her tail and sit next to her to watch the birds. This picture was taken one day when I was having a nap, my husband came into wake me to find the two of them curled up by my feet together. They still have their moments, their relationship sorta reminds me of mine and my younger brother, I love him but sometimes I still like to beat him silly!
