Cats have a way of making themselves the center of attention. Meet Shanks, a stray cat from Liverpool, UK, who was taking a bit of a catnap in Anfield, the stadium of Liverpool Football Club, a team in soccer’s English Premier League. When woken by the cheers of fans, the frightened cat ran out on to the pitch, interrupting play and catapulting the cat to celebrity. Shanks was later taken to a care home, but eventually escaped and is in parts unknown. However, during his time at Freshfields Animal Rescue, the team caught up with Shanks and documented his care, illustrating the health risks that street cats face.
