Cats and Science
Science! The Audobon Nature Institute in New Orleans has a new African Black-footed Cat kitten, thanks to an pioneering IVF procedure. The cat was born in February to a domestic housecat who had been impregnated with a sperm and an egg collected from Black-footed Cats living in captivity. This process was part of conservation efforts for the Black-footed Cat, a species native to southern Africa. The kitten is being fostered by the housecat, and is apparently getting very big!
