DIY Cook: Cat Cookies
Make these delicious cat-shaped cookies for Halloween! They make about 24 big cookies, or about 30 small cookies. (note: this recipe is for human consumption, not cats)
You will need:
3/4 cup softened butter
1 cup white sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs, beaten
1 1/4 cups all purpose flour
1/3 cup cocoa powder
pinch salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
splash of milk
Something (like M&Ms) to create the cat noses
Optional extras: nuts, chocolate chips
Instructions: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 Celsius). Cream together the butter and sugar until well blended and reasonably fluffy. Add the vanilla extract, and then add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well. In another bowl, mix together the flour, cocoa, salt and baking powder together and then add the dry ingredients. Mix well together with the milk. Â You should have a relatively firm dough. Â (Now is the time to mix in nuts or chocolate chips, if so desired). Â Shape into balls and then flatten a bit, pinching up the dough to create “ears”. Bake for 9 minutes. Â Whip them out of the oven and use a fork to create whiskers. Stud the middle of the cookie with your chosen nose (we used dried blueberries) and let cool!
Enjoy with milk and a cat by your side!
