Kesha’s New Music Video Stars Her Rescue Cat

Fun, campy video is a tribute to the cat she saved from a garbage can

Kesha has dropped her campy and colourful self-directed video for “Little Bit Of Love”—featuring her rescue cat Mr. Peep$. The new video, which has Kesha travelling around the world with Mr. Peep$, made its broadcast premiere on MTV Live, MTVU and on the Viacom Times Square billboard this morning.

Not only did Kesha come up with the video concept, but she also shot the video herself at home with a cheap greenscreen setup bought online. Kesha, and her boyfriend Brad (+ Mr. Peep$!) were the only crew and talent for the whole video which was shot on an iPhone 11 Pro Max. After they filmed the footage themselves they shared the files with their co-director Jonah Best who then did all of the editing and VFX remotely.

It’s a cut from her latest album ‘High Road’ (Kemosabe/RCA Records), which was called a body of work “wise and wild in equal measure” (Billboard), that “electrifies from the inside out” (American Songwriter) and “strikes a believable balance between vulnerability and the bluster she made her name on” (Stereogum).

The video is not the first tribute the singer’s cat has received. Last year Billboard fans voted Mr. Peep$ their favourite celebrity cat, beating out other famous felines Taylor Swift‘s Olivia Benson, Meredith Grey and Benjamin Button, Miley Cyrus‘ Keke, and Katy Perry‘s Kitty Purry. It’s a meteoric rise for a cat that started out on the streets.

“He started in a garbage can outside of a strip club that was very trashy,” Kesha shared. “He was down in the dumps, literally. Then I was walking by, leaving the strip club, and then my friend exclaimed, ‘There’s this beautiful cat in this garbage can!'”

Her drummer told her not to touch the cat, but she dove right in to save Mr. Peeps.
