In a story that starts out horrifying but ends hopefully, we want to introduce Phoenix, a kitten from California who was dumped at a Los Angeles shelter with severe chemical burns to his entire body. Phoenix’s injuries were so severe that it was necessary to amputate his tail.  Despite this, Phoenix is thriving, healing under the care of his watchful vet and kneading shelter staff despite the heavy bandages on his front paws. Staff are amazed at his kind and friendly nature, despite his traumatic experiences. His care team at the Helen Woodward Animal Center hopes to put him up for adoption in a month (you can visit their website for more information, or to meet many more adoptable kitties in the San Diego area).
