Spas, Massages And More—How Canadians Are Spoiling Their Pets
How far will pet owners go to keep Fido and Fluffy happy? It seems the sky’s the limit these days (or the confines of their wallets) — with spas, raw foods and other perks once only available to humans. The role they play in our households is indeed changing. No longer are pets — particularly dogs and cats — viewed by their owners only as companions, guardians or hunters. “They’re perceived more as a member of the family,” said Susan Dankert, spokesperson for the Pet Industry Joint Advisory Council of Canada, a nonprofit trade association. “The human-animal bond has become so important for people.”
