Local business woman Lorien Clemens, director of marketing for Pet Hub, Inc. in the Seattle, Wash., area is the big winner in the annual Pet Industry Woman of the Year Award competition.

Clemens was named the 2014 Pet Industry Woman of the Year from a field of more than 50 nationwide candidates.

Clemens was on-hand to accept the honor, which was announced this past weekend at the Women in the Pet Industry Conference and Awards Show in Portland, Ore. This annual conference and Pet Industry Woman of the Year competition are put on by Women in the Pet Industry Network (WIPIN), the industry-leading organization focused on women entrepreneurs.

“I’m thrilled to be awarded such a prestigious honor,” said Lorien Clemens, Director of Marketing at PetHub, Inc. “I am truly looking forward to using this opportunity to further educate pet parents about the importance of lost pet prevention and using new technologies to keep pets home safe and sound.”

Shawna Schuh, president of WIPIN, said, “The pet industry is filled with remarkable women like Lorien. She is an excellent example of innovation, inspiration and hard work. Lorien has been able to orchestrate change that has led Pet Hub to new levels of success. She is determined and prepared to take calculated risks—two essentials for a leader.”

Lorien Clemens joined PetHub, Inc., in June 2011 as the little start-up was just closing its initial seed funding from Seattle, Washington, Angel investor groups. Clemens was able to create a shoestring budget and help take PetHub.com from 3,000 users to the over 100,000 users on the site today, including building a Facebook fan following of over 70,000 users. Clemens has guided PetHub to its wins of multiple pet industry awards, including Dog Fancy Magazine’s “Editors’ Choice Award” and Pet AGE Magazine’s “Retailer Silver Select Award” for its unique digital ID tags. In addition, Clemens participated in PetHub’s recent Series A round of funding in 2013 bringing PetHub’s Angel investments to over $1.75 million dollars.
